Cast

Khalid Robinson as Hameed

Khalid is a trained actor.
He has done commercials, industrial shoots besides playing significant character and lead roles in other short films. When he is not in front of a camera, he is happily mixing drinks at a swanky night club in Atlanta.

He plays the role of a middle eastern man in Orange. Strangely, he has so no middle eastern connection whatsoever. He is half Italian and he worked hard on a thick middle eastern accent. He read the Kite Runner just before the shoot just because the director chose to use that as a prop in the sets.

Angela Cunningham as Katie

Angela Cunningham grew up in Hilton Head Island and started taking acting classes at the age of ten. Taking a break in college to play golf for the University of Georgia Women's team, she re-entered the acting world in 2004. Since that time she has signed with the PeopleStore, played the role of Diana in an Alliance Theater Education Department production of "Ring Around the Moon", done commercials for Belk's Department Stores, Woman's Hospital and Kangaroo Bob's as well as Industrial work for Delta, Cox, Nanotechnologies and Royal Caribbean as well as playing the leading role in an upcoming short film, "Cat and Mouse". Most recently she has studied at The Company Acting Studio in their Master Class. She is married and currently lives in Buckhead.
Angela's role in Orange demanded that she gradually becomes an insecure, agigated, restless person. Her ability to switch her eye expressions were remarkable in some scenes.

Origin of Orange - Director's commentary

The idea of Orange took shape in my mind in late fall 2005. Since then a spate of films have been very vocal about the same ideologies that Orange shares - civil liberties and psyche of terrorism. Syriana, Munich, Good Night Good Luck have all shown the different dimensions of human fear. The following is the blog I wrote back in December 2005 right after a despicable incident that happened in Miami the previous day.

Orange

I finally am all set to shoot 'Orange' the weekend of 17th December. Planning the production details for this project took me longer than I thought it would. Luckily, I have an Executive Producer whose power of persistence has been start-up company worthy.

I managed to romp in quite a remarkable DP talent in Travis. He is an indie film director's delight - provides creative, cost effective ways to achieve soderbergh-isque cinematography finesse.

Orange - the title of the film occurred to me this morning. Thanks to my ever dependable muse, BB. The title has been worked into the script at the right point to diminish its abstractness. Yes! Yes!! Krystoff Kieslowski will be proud that his color coded genre of film themes is getting a 21st century extension.

This film is a tribute to the murder of Rigoberto Alpizar at the Miami Airport yesterday and Jean Charlez De Menezes, the innocent brazilian who was shot a few days after the London subway bombings.

The real fear is fear itself!!! The manufactured, color coded fear is not going to make the world a better place to live.
